Armco Superlite was established as a subsidiary of the American Rolling Mill Company, the USA’s fourth largest steel producer, and is now a wholly owned South African company that has been operating in South Africa since the 1930’s. Today Armco Superlite supplies many of the world’s leading construction companies and agencies that operate in Africa, Australasia and the Far East, and exports most of the galvanized corrugated steel products produced at it’s factory.
Armco’s guardrail product is just one of its galvanized corrugated steel products and is so widely used in Southern Africa that its name has become a generic for the product. Armco’s guardrail can be found at just about all of the world’s Formula One racing circuits.
The factory is situated on a 3,6 hectare site in Isando near Johannesburg, South Africa, close to major highways and an international airport. It also has its own railway siding. Armco manufactures and supplies galvanized corrugated steel products to many of the world's leading mining and construction organizations that operate in Africa. As well as galvanized corrugated steel products, Armco also produce safe hit surface mount channelizers, delineators, traffic cones, bases and speed bumps, the Quadguard systems, the well-known Armco Barrier Guard 800, as well as barrier gates, ABC terminals, guardrails, and the Armco wire rope safety fences.
