Armco galivanizers offer superior value for money and world class quality.
A galvanizer is used in the process of bonding molten zinc to iron through a metallurgical reaction. The first step in this process is inspecting the iron to check for rust or other contaminants on the metal. Next the rust, paint or other contaminants are removed using various processes. The iron is then moved to a flux solution consisting of ammonium chloride and zinc heated to 70 degrees Celsius which provides a barrier to rust before the iron is dipped in the molten zinc. The iron is then placed in a galvanizer where it is dipped in molten zinc which has been heated to 450 degrees Celsius. The metal is then quenched in water or air cooled to ensure easy handling. And last but not least the final product must pass through strict quality control and inspection to ensure that it meets with the relevant specifications. This process is a cost effective means to combat corrosion of metals promoting the use of steel and other metals in the use of construction and other fields.
Some products that are produced by a galvanizer are corrugated iron and steel products, post and fencing, wire rope, light posts and irrigation systems. Basically, this process provides a bonded coating to metals that will prevent rust and other contaminants from tainting the product. This hot dip galvanizing process is suitable for all structural steels and ferrous metals.
Galvanizing processes have strict standards that must be adhered to at all times. Heating metal to such a high degree produces by-products that can be harmful to the atmosphere and environment. A white fume filtration unit prevents the discharge of pollutants and toxins into the atmosphere. When choosing a galvanizing company for all your metal requirements, ensure that all safety precautions are in place and that the company is disposing of all waste in an environmentally friendly manner. Make sure that the company is listed with the various accepted industry standards organisations.
Protect all your metal products by using a galvanizer to provide a barrier to all environmental conditions and contaminants. For further information on these products and services visit www.armco.co.za or call us on 011 974-8511.
