Because they are so environmentally responsible, our Randfontein and Isando plants are licensed under the requirements of the National Environment: Air Quality Act No. 39 of 2004 and its amendments. Armco is also an active member of the Hot Dip Galvanizers Association of Southern Africa (HDGASA). As such, we share information with the industry to ensure optimal improvement of practices. More About Armco Galvanizers
As mentioned earlier, we have two prominent galvanizing plants. Armco Galvanizers Isando has a track record spanning more than two decades. The plant opened its doors in 1989 and is equipped to handle the galvanization of heavy structural steel of up to 13 m in length. The output of the plant is, on average, around 2000 t per month. Our commitment at the plant is to provide premium quality in terms of service and product delivery, regardless of the client or the size of the order. Armco Galvanizers Randfontein is also located in Gauteng and boasts an output of, on average, 800 t per month. This plant is designed and fitted for the handling of medium-size structural steel of up to 6,2 m in length.
The bath sizes of the galvanising plants differ to meet the mentioned steel lengths. With our hot-dip facilities being SANS 121 2000/ISO 1461-compliant and our company also meeting the ISO 9001 quality-management system requirements, clients have the assurance of superior quality work and products. The Isando plant has an improved laydown area, which has expanded our capacity considerably. With only PU-coated slings in operation for the loading of galvanized materials, clients also have the assurance of quality control to minimise the risk of product damage. In addition to our galvanizers, we have a transport fleet consisting of large horse-and-trailer trucks for the transportation of the completed products. Our galvanization methods are proven and have been well-tested. The underlying steel is protected with a zinc coating. The coating provides the covered steel with a silver sheen and makes it unnecessary to give it a coat of paint to protect the steel against corrosion.
